Pedigree At one time the major Hallertau Mittelfrüh landrace variety with a highly acclaimed aroma profile.
Maturity Early to mid-season
Yield 1,300- 1,800kg./ha. or 1,150 - 1,600 lb./ac.
Growth Habit Moderately vigorous on most soil types.
Disease Reaction Sensitive to German wilt which resulted in reduction of its acreage and replacement by Hersbrucker over the 1970's and 1980's.
Pickability Prone to shattering if overripe
Drying/Baling No problems if picked well.
Cone Structure Lightish, fluffy cone.
Quality
Luplin Pale to medium yellow in color.
Aroma Mild and pleasant.
Alpha Acids 3.5- 5.0% w/w
Beta Acids 4.0 - 5.5% w/w
Co-Humulone 23 - 26% of alpha acids
Storageability 50 - 60% of alpha acids remaining after six (6) months storage at room temperature.
Total Oil 0.7 - 1.3 mls/100 grams
Myrcene 15 - 20% of whole oil
Humulene 40 - 55% of whole oil
Caryphyllene 10 - 15% of whole oil
Farnesene <1% of whole oil
General Trade Perception The classic German aroma hop associated with Bavarian style Lager and Pilsner beers.
